After the party, I got to enjoy a mani/pedi AND a nap afterwards, plus I made two types of fall soup to boot. Yay for Saturdays when Daddy is home! And YAY for Auburn's win over Ole Miss. It's nice to see the Tigers succeed. On Halloween, we headed to the Presbyterian church for a lowcountry boil benefiting the MOPS group Sylvie and I participate in. The food was yummy and Nanie was there! For this event, Sylvie chose her fairy (sairy) costume, but told people she was a ballerina. After boycotting naps for the past two days, this little fairy tried to fall asleep in the car on the way to the party, but she certainly didn't miss any of the excitement!

Sylvie went up to the square with Nana and Papa after dinner. I didn't get to see the festivities, but according to the Star News, it was the biggest the event has ever been. I'm not a huge fan of adults standing in line for free candy (well, actually I'm not a fan of anyone standing in any line for anything free) but it's nice that the city puts it on each year. But I still think it's better to work for your candy...put on a costume, get up your courage and say "Trick or Treat!" And don't forget to say thank you.
We did some old-fashioned trick-or-treating in a friend's neighborhood with a witch and Buzz Lightyear, as well as in our neighborhood, then we put our exhausted fairy in the bed. But not until she managed to make a tiny hole in a bag of M&Ms, just big enough for a goody to fall out. Sometimes I guess she really is just like her mommy.
I did like Sylvie's wagon-ride conversation with her friend, Ollie. It went something like:
Ollie: "I'm a flyin' witch! What are you, Sylvie Sue? A magic fairy?"
Sylvie: "No, I'm a bah-nah-rina!"
I also love the story Ollie's mom told me on Sunday. She was holding Sylvie, loving on her in the nursery. Ollie was rolling on the floor, crying, " My mommy don't wanna love Sylvie Sue!" Hope they're not planning on a second child any time soon. Sylvie just watched her, probably wondering what the fuss was all about.
I managed to get Sylvie to nap today (bribed with a promise of M&Ms and juice), and in the process took down all of our Halloween decorations. I get a breather before Christmas. I refuse to do anything Christmas-y until after Thanksgiving.
And oh yeah, Sylvie tee-teed in the potty the other day! I think we're on the right track and maybe she'll be potty trained by Christmas? Here's hoping. I guess I discovered that her potty treat can be an M&M. Good research done on Halloween.
God Bless,
Katie
