Atlanta Girl's Trip
My sister and I braved a girl's trip to Atlanta this past weekend. She is expecting her second daughter, Lucy, in May and we wanted to spend some time together before the exhaustion and uncertainty of a newborn ensues later this year. Honestly most trips we plan seem to fail or at the very least provide some temporary pain, so I think we were both apprehensive that this one might follow suit and be a miserable few days. I was so happy to be pleasantly surprised. It was SO much fun and I don't think it could have gone any better. We had a ball with Bailey and Sylvie in the big city, enjoying life as tourists. The only bad part was realizing how much fun it would be if we lived in the same town instead of eight hours away from each other. That just plain sucks since the girls have so much fun together and I love my sister! We'll have to do it again when Lucy's a little older...and we may have to add a nanny to the mix when that happens. To say we were tired when we got home would be a considerable understatement.
The best anecdote from the trip...at least for me. My sister was ordering lunch in a cafe while I watched both girls at a table outside. While she was in line she overheard two women gossiping about me. "Do you see that girl outside with the short hair? Poor teen mom." Tsk, tsk. Yeah, you got that right! I'll take their pity cuz it means I look real good for my old age and for having had two small children! I love being misunderstood and it work to my advantage.
Awesome hotel...

Awesome hotel...

They loved the double stroller...so did my buns up the hill.
Atlanta Aquarium...What???

Pinky the Penguin, just like Bailey's!
Ready for the dolphin show!
Snack break.

Cousin hug.

The funny thing about this picture is that I'm doing this behind the camera to get them to smile.
Ditto here. They are so crazy.
Dinner at Johnny Rockets. Yeah for milkshakes!

Drivin' the truck.

Moon sand, Mommy approved. No mess!
She thinks the tractor's...fun?

Hey Bailey!
Early tonight Sylvie saw this picture and said, "Wook, Bailey's mounting the cow!" She's confused on so many fronts.

Just for Daddy!

Always backwards done the slide but fearless.
So happy to see the Clifford exhibit.
Not happy to actually see Clifford.

For the record...
Just for posterity's sake, I need to share this story. Now, we all know that between the two of us, Parrish is a much better person than I am. No, don't argue, it's just true. He's nicer, smarter, more patient and kind, more thoughtful...just plain better. It's been unspoken that if the munchkin were to say a dirty word, it would be a parrot of what had just come out of MY mouth, since I tend to share my emotions freely and without regard for little ears. That being said, Parrish beat me to the punch, and I'm praising the good Lord. I NEVER have anything to hold over his head (or halo) so this really made my day.
"Crap!" says Daddy.
"It is not cwap!" says munchkin.
I feel liberated, lighter than air, vindicated and just a little smug.
Thanks and good night.

Happy Pre-Valentine's Day
We had a super cute Valentine's party at our church last week. I am now the children's event planner...imagine that. We had a great time making cookies, cards and dancing, dancing, dancing. I'm so glad my parents were there to help me...chaos has never been my strong suit. We'll see how the year goes...this was the first of many church events that I'll be planning, unless the kids manage to frighten me away first.
The best part of the event was getting to take the kid's Valentine's to our assisted living facility today. BFFs Ollie and Sylvie did a magnificent job of handing out cards to the sweet residents who were waiting for us. I really haven't seen anything so cute in a long time. I am so proud of our girls...hopefully early service will have an impact on them for the rest of their lives. I'm actually hoping to take them out again soon so Ollie can shake her bootie like she likes it. Sylvie told me today that she loves Ollie and Ollie told her grandpa that Sylbie Sue was her best friend. Love.

Long time no blog.
I really have no excuse except exhaustion. I could blame this on the sweet gift of a thyroid condition that the munchkin bestowed upon me at birth, but that'd be a lie. I'm just tired and perhaps a little lazy. The thought of my soft, warm, narcotic bed is sometimes the only thing that gets me through the day. Mommy. Hi Mommy. Hey Mommy. Mommy. I wanna snack. Mommy. I wanna go outside see Harry. Mommy. Hi Mommy. Hey Mommy. I tee tee on a potty get a M&M. No wanna tee tee on a potty. I wanna go JJ's house this weekend see Ferg. Hi Mommy.
We've had a very busy January, mostly due to my obsessive need to make the devil-month fly by. I've previously posted about my hatred for the month. Honestly it wasn't that bad this year. I think it has something to do with the crazy warm temperatures we've had...no being cooped up in the house for us. We go, go, go in flip flops like the white trash we aspire to be. Just kidding...but it seems silly to wear boots when it's 75 degrees and sunny outside.
Here are some photos of the baby from her trip to JJ & Ferg's while Parrish and I attended his annual dental alumni weekend in Birmingham. She had a great time, telling me in the car on the way home that she was going to JJ's tomorrow. Not so much. Luckily they came down a couple of days later to help me with her new playroom so she could get her fix. Loves. them.
