What a loooong, hot summer we've been having! I have to be honest and say that I really can't wait for school to start! The munchkin is so energetic and her mommy is so not. I think the heat just sucks the life out of me. I felt a cool breeze the other night and it was like the first hint of fall...here's to hoping that it's right around the corner...don't think I'll make it through an Indian summer.
We have stayed busy with beach trips, my 31st birthday, the Distinguished Young Woman program, a drastic hair color change, tumbling camps (yay for mastering the back bend), a two week ballet home stay guest (we loved Harper-Leigh!), learning to county to ten in Spanish (thanks, Dora), wedding festivities for Uncle Will and Aunt Anna, and lots of trips to the pool, hence a new fish in the family. Girl even swims freely on Joe's Bayou in the "hay monster" (grass covering the bottom of the sea. I won't touch it but she finds it thrilling).
We had a visit with Dr. E and learned that Sylvie weighs a whopping 24.5 lbs, enough to actually get her on the growth chart at the 5th percentile. She's growing slowly but surely. Her tumbling teachers are drooling at her perfect gymnast stature and you can see Olympic gold in her daddy's eyes. I'm just trying not to think about the injuries that could ensue and trying to get up off the floor myself after demonstrating my back bend. Ouch. She also started her first Creative Movement class at Andalusia Ballet...I have a feeling a lot of our time and money will be headed straight there for the rest of her young life.
The biggest (how sad this is going to sound) thing that I've been the most involved in this summer is our local mayoral election. It has created so much gossip and controversy in my sweet town. I voted today and can't wait for the election to be over at the end of the month. There is an opponent to the current mayor who is, I'd venture to say, the most ignorant purveyor of negativity that I've ever encountered. Trust me, it has been torture keeping my mouth mostly shut. Moron. Don't get me started, but if you want my opinion that is the RIGHT opinion, feel free to call me.
Parrish has been participating in our local community theater and had his shows this weekend. Hopefully I'll remember to get some photos from someone...Parrish as a mobster with a violin case is pretty darn funny. The show was good...but we are both glad it's over...I was starting to feel like a single mom since he was rehearsing all the flappin' time.
Looking forward, Sylvie has asked for a Minnie Mouse pool party birthday with balloons, cupcakes, strawberries, blueberries and broccoli (promising she will be happy when she sees Minnie and not cry) and wants to be a happy bat for Halloween. Think of me while plan these interesting events. Why did I even ask what she wanted?
God Bless,
Katie
PS...best line of the day. I said, "Daddy's a genius." Sylvie replied, "No...a genius poopie!"
