Fall y'all.

It's finally chilly.  Not cold but just chilly.  I'll take it.  I love napping in front of the fire in the afternoons while the munchkin watches her "shows."  You may think I feel guilty for this, but never fear, I don't.  Just because she doesn't need to nap doesn't mean mommy doesn't need to close her eyes for a minute or thirty.  And y'all, she can count to ten in Spanish and knows all her letters by sight.  Not real worried about this one's stunted development due to TV exposure.  Enough of that...can you tell I've been thinking about that lately?

Anyway, we've been busy this fall already.  I seriously can't believe Thanksgiving is next week.  I love this time of year...the couple of weeks between holidays that are filled with comfort food and snuggling and Uggs.  It's my favorite.  And I bought egg nog for the first time.  I just want to know what it tastes like.
Could this one get much cuter in her snuggly Uggs?

The munchkin's activities keep me the busiest, with mine and Parrish's thrown in for good measure.  We had a fun Halloween...I love being able to ask what Sylvie wants to be...a happy bat, she replies.  And she stuck with it for several months.  Thanks to JJ, we have this:

Now that's the happiest bat I've ever seen.
Bat's BFF is Garfield, of course.
We also had parent observation at Andalusia Dance & Tumbling.  This is a huge class of three-year-olds...I have no idea how the teachers manage but it is military-style moving and grooving.  Sylvie loves it.  While other little girls may not participate if watched by Mommy, this one is a major priss-pot and shows off for me like a champ.  It is hilarious.  She is so my child.

She has her "spoons" in her "bowl" right now.
We took the munchkin for the Auburn/Texas A&M game.  We stayed with Aunt Anna & Uncle Will, who by the way are expecting their first baby in May, yay!  My parents had old friends from A&M stay with them and it was really fun getting to see them, even if they were tucked away in a really odd tailgating spot thanks to my dad's unorthodox method.  It was a cold game and we were getting killed, so we left at halftime.  She of course had a ball watching the band, the eagle fly, the flyover and the fireworks.  At least Auburn knows how to put on a show even if the team can't quite get it together this year.  It's hard to watch these horrible games!

Love this Auburn hat!
Our Toomer's Oak Tree, going strong!
The fair came to town and it was the munchkin's favorite again this year.  I have no idea how I have such a thrill-seeker since I fell down the stairs yesterday and it was the most excitement I've had in a while.
The fair was right after Sylvie decided to slam her head into the steps. This injury didn't deter from riding the race cars over and over and over.

We attended the Veteran's Day parade on Monday, which I have to say was pretty lame, nothing like our Christmas parade.  I felt bad that we don't support our military more than we do...some of the floats were empty and the crowd was low.  I guess it's more exciting to see Santa than the people that have kept us safe for years and years.  I guess I shouldn't be surprised since we've had another disappointing presidential election and the way I see it, we are going down and going down fast.  Say your prayers, America.  I know I sound like Debbie Downer, but I'm afraid I'm more right on this one than I normally am.  Sorry...the girls had fun waving their flags and dancing in the streets if that makes you feel any better!  Oh, and I finally acknowledged the fact that my dad is a veteran.  It never crossed my mind...he is so humble about that stuff.  But he can kill you with his bare hands, just so you know.
God Bless America!
Later that day I took Sylvie to the worst circus I've ever seen.  Seriously, it was bad.  The animals made me so sad...they were miserable and wanted to eat their handlers in one bite.  Now I will say the elephant skipping and standing on a ball was pretty impressive, and the Argentinian family that juggle each other was fun to watch.  But the blatant commercialism and the obvious animal neglect put this event on the "never again" list for our future activities.  Hope Sylvie doesn't harbor resentment of me for taking the circus away from her as a child.

Love the pigtails, though.
I'll leave you with a final photo, pat me on the back.  I love getting to make fun things for Sylvie.  It just makes life more fun.  I'll be getting ready for Thanksgiving now...wish me luck!

Acorns!

God Bless,
Katie

PS...the munchkin really called me out the other day.  When she asked me to play with her and I said no, she said, "God wants you to play with me."  Wow.
