Mr. & Mrs. Wes Donald!!

We headed to Orange Beach to watch Parrish's sweet cousin Kayla tie the knot with the sweet Wes.  It was a great weekend and besides the gloomy weather, I don't think it could've gone any better.  There was a ton of King family there...I have a hard time keeping everyone straight but it's nice to have the whole clan together.  We lucked out and got to stay with Nanie, Aunt Kathy and Uncle Danny.  This equals lots of food and love for Sylvie!  She had a ball.  Such a nice condo...note to self...Phoenix West rules since it has a lazy river (for lazy me) and water slide (for crazy Daddy and munchkin) on the beach.

The rehearsal dinner was at Craft Farms and was lovely...the chef was so sweet to make me some GF shrimp to go with my grits.  Sylvie downed some sparkling grape juice from a champagne flute and blew raspberries while the groom's dad gave a serious toast about maintaining a Christ-centered marriage.  She got bounced (first removal of the weekend) to another room while we tried to get the table to stop shaking since we were all laughing so hard.

"Champagne" did it's job.  Not a peep all night.

Saturday morning we enjoyed a water slide excursion under gray clouds and incurred blue lips.  Bounce #2 back to the room for some time on the couch under a blanket.  We enjoyed a yummy lunch at Cobalt (yay for a great Bloody Mary and some GF tamales...Mom, take note...we can go eat there and get some more!).  It really was nice to be able to just be a guest at the wedding and not have to be anywhere at a specific time, rush, wait around...typical wedding stuff.  We just played!

Didn't know spaghetti also acted as a sleep aid.  But it might've been Nana's comfy lap.
The wedding was at a lovely Methodist church and was sweet and simple.  Minus bounce #3 to the cry room.  I guess hearing a two-year-old carry on a running dialogue with herself doesn't really lend itself to the somber/sweet/quiet/respectful ambience of a church wedding.  Maybe if we'd be at a go-cart track she would've fit right in.

"Hi Nanie!" as Nanie is coming down the aisle to be seated in a SILENT church.
"Who's Wes?"
"Where's Kayla?"
"Where's Aunt Bef?"
"Daddy, what's your name?"
"Mommy, what's your name?"
"I need to do my work!" as she scribbles on all the offering envelopes.
"Oh, muuusic!" as she opens a hymnal.
Audibly sings the Lord's Prayer and pretends to pray kneeling on the altar.

Yikes.

Anyway, the cry room really is soundproof if you were wondering.

The reception was at our condo, so convenient.  The flowers and tables were lovely and the band was great.  In fact, munchkin couldn't contain herself and was the first one on the dance floor even when the band wasn't playing.  She ate more than a trucker and danced some more.  Then she ate more.  She ran around and played chase with anyone who would follow (and they did, mostly grown men).  She wore koozies on her hands and boxed with Mr. Bean.  Love it.  Nanie got her groove on to the point that after we brought Sylvie back to the room (bounce #4), Parrish went back because he couldn't let his 90-year-old grandmother stay out later than him and school him on the dance floor.

Love this family photo.
Sylvie had so much fun that I had to ask her at one point if anyone had given her anything to eat besides me.  The stream of consciousness, hallucinatory stories pouring out of her mouth for about an hour after being put in bed led me to believe that someone may have tampered with her Pediasure.  Hilarious.  She had an entire conversation with Diego and ended up saving the day.  I think she had a lot of fun, don't you?

We are so proud of Wes & Kayla and wish them all the best.  I can truly see a long marriage ahead of them and that is so rare these days.  The look in both of their eyes is precious.

GF update:  I feel better than I have in years.  Woo hoo!  And this is without any of the recommended vitamins.  I will take over the world, I can just feel it.

God Bless,
Katie
