I had the privilege of singing in an Auburn Singer's friend's wedding this weekend in Birmingham. I went solo so that I wouldn't have to subject Parrish to my "crazy" friends. Don't worry, they know they're crazy and are more than proud of that rep. It's been well-earned and we're not gonna change. Parrish took munchkin duty and I really don't know who had more fun...they went to the high school football game on Friday night (where my stud husband attempted and made a 30-yard field goal for a whopping $250 prize). They camped out in a pink tent that night in our backyard and the munchkin loved it. This bodes well for her future since if she doesn't start sleeping all night that's where she's headed permanently. They ate Dairy Queen and Japanese food. They also had a day o' fun over at Nanie's on Saturday with most of the family. To say she's doted on is a major understatement.

Loves Millie. I whispered for the munchkin to ask Daddy over the weekend for a Millie of her own. Hasn't worked yet. |

While I hate missing out on fun weekends with my family, I have to say I wouldn't have traded anything for some time with my friends. I really needed them! They think I'm funny. Nuff said. We met to rehearse on Friday afternoon (sight reading a Latin chant is no small feat and I'm proud to say we nailed it). We headed out after that for a drink before the rehearsal dinner. It was so nice to be at a cool place with really interesting people who I haven't seen in a long time, but we pick up so easily where we left off and STILL have so much in common even after being out of school for (dare I say it) almost 10 years.
The rehearsal dinner was a lovely affair in English Village. We were seated at the "merriment" table and lived up to our moniker. Yeah, we bring the fun. And the inappropriate toasts. I'm really good at toasts, but I think the GOBLET of red wine so generously poured for me seemed to influence my eloquence just a tad. But I had to join in the fun...the governor of Kentucky and the Wendy's girl were in attendance. In the midst of celebrity, I must leave my mark. As usual. But as I always say, if I don't do something silly the night before, what will we talk about the next day, I ask you? You needn't thank me. I know you're grateful.

| BFF for life. |
Mer and I stayed at the Nichols' and got the gift of sleeping together like old times. I do have to say it was our first foray in Star Wars sheets. There's nothing like girl friends to bring you back to yourself. So nice to wake up to a yummy breakfast and get to spend a little time with Whit's husband and my favorite spouse, Corey. He has always put life into perspective for me and good-naturedly put up with our antics with love. Love him in return.
After a Chuy's lunch, some shopping and the nastiest chai latte from Starbucks ever, we headed back to the church to rehearse and perform, er, sing in the wedding. We were at St. Luke's in Mtn. Brook...you know what it was like. Perfection. Moneyed. Very elegant. Loved the girl's aubergine dresses. There were nine AU Singers in the choir with a few of Mears' theater friends mixed in. And the Wendy's girl sang "The Water is Wide." Her marketing is effective...we made a stop for a Frosty Dairy Dessert after the wedding. Well played, Wendy, well played. And the cantor from St. Pat's in NYC was our director and another soloist. He was super nice but I'm pretty sure totally over us by the end of the weekend. We are a little much to take.

| Nothing like a girl's lunch. |
The reception was at Rucker Place and the food was some of the best I've had at a catered event. And of course the highlight of the night for us was singing the Alma Mater to Kat and Ross on the dance floor. We killed. For reals.

Yes, we brought glowsticks to a Brookie wedding. Someone had to liven things up. |

| Love this boy! |
I did hate to leave my buddies today but I'm so grateful for the time we had together. It makes me a better wife and mom to be able to go away and remember myself sometimes. I'm grateful my sweet husband can seamlessly fill my absence and that my child is so well-adjusted that she doesn't miss a beat when I'm gone.
God Bless and best wishes for a very happy Beshear marriage,
Katie
