December daze...

We have had such a packed month so far...I'm really setting myself up for the January blues.  Oh wait, no I'm not...we are thankfully going to Disney in January!  Anyway, we started off the month with the community Christmas parade, annual pancake breakfast and shopping for our "angel" (this was a challenge in itself this year since the poor child's sizes were bigger than what I wear and she's four, bless her), and of course our Children's Choir program at church.  This was a lot of fun with a potluck supper with the entire congregation and a packed sanctuary for our sweet program.  This is a great way to kick off the Christmas season and I'm so glad to be a part of it.  Sylvie wasn't really feeling it that night and didn't participate like I thought she might, but oh well, chalk it up to age three.

I have been sick since before Thanksgiving and finally gave in and got a shot and antibiotic.  The doctor caught me taking a nap on the exam table.  Good grief, it was the first quiet moment I'd had in days...no one seems to care when the momma is sick...life still goes on.  I think Parrish was happy I went...I'd hacked on him so much and kept him up at night that I thought I was about to wear his everlasting patience thin.  Imagine that.

The Andalusia Ballet performed the Nutcracker last weekend and I have to say that it rivals the big city ballets I've seen in the past.  We are so blessed to have such a professional opportunity for the arts right here in our tiny town.  I was so proud of the cast...they work their tails off and it shows.  See the video at the end for our own special part in the show.  I'm pretty sure I birthed a star.

We took Sylvie up to Calera to ride on the North Pole Express, a real train ride and visit with Santa.  She is obsessed with trains anyway and we've been reading the Polar Express every day in preparation for the ride.  This was crucial as it takes about three hours to get there and then three hours back...definitely want to make sure it's worth our while (and money...sheesh!).  It really was fun...hot chocolate, muffins, ornaments and pictures with Santa & Mrs. Claus.  I'm not sure we'll make a return trip, but for her it was perfect this year.  So glad our sweet friends arranged the trip for us...it was so nice to be invited instead of inviting (I'm the consummate event planner and rarely get to just go along for the ride!).

We found out Uncle Will and Aunt Anna will be having a little girl next year...Baylin Elizabeth King.  So glad Sylvie will have another sweet cousin to play with...knew it was a girl, Will!

Too funnies...Sylvie responded without prompting with a, 'Yes, ma'am, Mommy."  When I praised her, she sweetly said, "I'm becoming good."

Today she also said longingly, "I want a puppy.  And a horse.  And some turtles."  Keep dreaming, kiddo.  But nice try.

All aboard the comfiest train in the station.

BFFs, Bella, Sylvie & Banks.

Getting ready for our ski trip.

Cutest snow bunny I've ever seen.

Children's choir program at church.

Madison & Sylvie, ready to go on the Polar Express.

So excited to be on a real train.

Awesome Santa & Mrs. Claus.  And not a tear shed!  So proud.

Thanks for bringing me, Daddy!

First class muffins and hot chocolate.  She scarfed it down.

Showing her muffin...the previous attempt was her opening her mouth and literally showing it to me.  Ew.

God Bless,
Katie
